Demons from the frozen north

Recently I've been working with a lot of Eldfall Chronicles miniatures. A friend of mine works at AK and just so happened to get acquainted with my contact at Freecompany, and they got into an agreement to get me painting Eldfall miniatures with QuickGen paints.

It has been a very enlightening experience as I found QuickGen give me more control while painting, which lead to better finish when painting very detailed miniatures like the ones from the Eldfall boardgame.

My first test models were the Oni Marauders, where I tried to test all most common colors and textures to get familiar with the paints. The marauders offer a lot of diferent areas as they have fur, leather, metals and even some fantasy skins.

I also wanted to try some of the undead as they are a common trope that can be found on several wargames. I found the metals are pretty consistent and the paints overall combine and mix well allowing for soft transitions. I had a lot of fun using OSL on theses and I love how the shields and weapons turned out once I applied some weathering effects.

I was so in love with the results of the Oni, that I decided to buy the Oni Yaksha, as they work on a similar color theme. A lot of the tricks I used on the marauders could be repeated exactly the same: the skin, the weapons, the collar beads...

I took a risky decision going for a pink kimono on the red yaksha. I really liked the result but found it to be a bit boring from the back side, so I decided to do some freehand, painting some sakura flower motives. Overall, this were very satisfying, and I found them to be some of my favourite miniatures I've painted this year.
