Experiments in 3D basing

Lately most of my projects related to the Combined Army where put on a halt due to basing issues. When I began my Onyx force I had just taken a small sculpting class and I was all hyped up to sculpt my own bases for my miniatures. While this was fine for some few models, as the army expanded this turned out to be a horrible solution as sculpting ended up being the chokepoint for my progression on the miniatures. It didn't take long for me to end up buying resin bases. While this was a faster solution it came at an increased price I wasn't sure I…

Boldly defiant

I'm currently playing Infinity Defiance's campaign with my RPG club. It's being a great ride and so far we're having a ton of fun with each mission. Right now we're about halfway through the whole campaign and it's also become a great motivator for me to paint the miniatures as I'm trying to finish each week the minis I will need on the next game. This particular week I painted Billie (who had some pretty heroic shenanigans during our last game). I painted him in a slightly darker palette than the oficcial one, going black …

Rule by force

It's time for some Morats! Have been playing the monkey guys a fair bit more since N4 releases and I must say they are even more fun to play than they were before. I still have a fair share of Morats pending some paint, so this week I tried to tackle those I was going to play the most. The new Rasyat profile has been a total winner in N4 so I foresee playing him a lot in this edition. He can really wreck havok on the enemy deployment. Also, the new sculpt is incredible, so I had to give it a go at the brush. Chose to…

Unwanted Visitors

There is a general rule of thumb for me when it comes to miniature painting. The less interested I am in the miniature, the higher the chance I ace it during the paint process and end up loving it. The opposite is also true. It's rare that a miniature I'm really pumped about ends up looking as good as I expected. My shasvastii seem to prove that for every single case. This Mentor guy wasn't even on my paint list, I did it more for a completion thing. When I got to it and finished I could say he was probably one of my favourite shasv…
