The unyielding advance of Saturn's Forges

Painting at the epic scale of Legions Imperialis requires a shift in focus: the goal is to make these 8mm miniatures feel just as dense and industrial as their full-sized counterparts. For this detachment, the core of the force is built around a heavy vanguard of Saturnine-pattern Terminators and Dreadnoughts painted in the colors of the Fourth Legion. On the Legions Imperialis battlefield, Saturnine Terminators serve a very specific purpose. Their massive, rounded armor suits are designed for grueling, close-quarters breakthrough operations and endurin…

The will of the Omnisiah

One of the drawbacks of trying to use a Warlord Titan in Legions Imperialis is that the available formations where you can field it are very limited. If you intend to play it as a Titan Legions force you are constrained to a single maniple where the Warlord can shine. And that maniple forces you to include at least a single Reaver Titan, one of my least favourite titan models. Luckily, someone online has solved my issue, creating a 3D reimagining of the Reaver in the classic Lucius Pattern style used for Epic 40k Warlord Titans. This design is more boxy…

Lord of the Battlefield

When I first saw Legions Imperialis presented by GW I was instantly into the game, as Epic 40k was the game I could never afford as a teenager. When I decided to invest into the game, one of the things I knew I definitely wanted in my army was a titan. But not just any titan, I wanted that beautiful Lucius pattern titan that for so many years was looking at me from the storefront, out of reach. Games Workshop no longer produces this model, as it was phased out in favor of the more round, more knightly, Mars pattern titans. So I had to get mine from an S…

Scouting for the Kin

This christmas one of my presents was a Votann Yaegir kill team. I had been dabbling in kill team the last year as I was interested on their solo and coop rules. Got me a box of the most recent Kill Team edition and got to play some small games. While it is in no way my favourite game, the miniatures are always really nice and the Votann in particular could proof useful for me in the future if I decide to dabble more into 40k. As I did previously with my miners, my big regiments games are my test bed for Speed Paints, so these were no exception. The obj…

Deep in the mines

This is a small team of squats from Necromunda that I plan to use as dwarf miners for OPR Grimdark Future. I maintained the idea of painting all this army using the slapchop technique, but for the miners I decided to switch up the colors a bit to make them more distinguishable from the rest of my Votann army, using red as the main color and reducing the ceramic khaqui to just the helmet and some stripes.  Some of the miners got upgraded a bit with picks from the Votann sprue, to help to easily tell them apart from the standard Votann troops. I also pick…
