Panoceanian High-Orbit Regiment (PHR) for Dropfleet Commander - Pt. 1

For some months now I've got really interested and invested in Dropfleet Commander. I was looking for spaceships to add to my Infinity RPG campaign and when I started to look into dropfleet I gazed waaaay too deep into the rabbit hole.

Last I knew I was buying myself 3 full fleets to portray Panoceania, Yujing and Nomads in my RPG campaign that were also playable with the Dropfleet ruleset (I also had to buy rules and cards because reasons...)

I started buying and painting a UCM fleet in Yujing colors, and then moved to PHR Panoceania for #SpringDropComp , a painting competition the dropfleet community in facebook was organizing.

After fumbling many times with the army builder I managed to assemble a 1000 pts list that would allow me to paint almost all models I had, so I got to work into planning my scheme.

Original color scheme plan
Originally I had to test several blue hue hulls to decide wich one best adjusted to my intended vision of the fleet. Here are some pics of my decision process with several test ships next to some of my Yujing UCM models and actual Panoceanian ground troops.

In the end I settled for the same petrol blue hue I use for my Pan0 ground troups as I thought it gave an overall better coherency. However, tests with the red stripes did not turn so good as they looked on paper (I don''t use airbrush so it was pretty hard to nail those lines as perfectly as required). I still intend to try to get me some panoceanian decals when quarantine ends though, to spruce up the hulls.

This are the Medea, the troop carriers.

The Calypso is a frigate that protects nearby ships by using ECM fields around her.

Here she's escorted by the Pandoras, small figher-bomber escort carriers.

The biggest ship in my PHR fleet so far is the Priam, a battlecruiser that also acts as a fleet carrier. Here she's escorted by three Echo Corvettes, the smallest ships of the bunch.

Right now, only the cruisers are missing to complete this fleet. I'm looking forward for the lockdown to end so I can demo this game on my local stores.
