Scholar's Seal - Reinforcements for Sand Kingdoms

Tackling the Scholar's Seal expansion box for Eldfall Chronicles has been a fantastic change of pace on the painting desk. The sculpts in this set carry a strong elemental identity, so my main goal was to make each miniature feel distinct through its palette while maintaining a visual thread that ties the whole group together on the table.

The Djinnborn Marzban was easily the most intense model of the set. To capture the idea of a creature born entirely of flame, I started with a fiery yellow core along the torso and muscle groups, blending outward into warm oranges and deep crimson along the fiery hair and swirling base elements. To ground all that warm intensity, I used deep emerald green for the scale skirt and waist wraps, framed with subtle gold accents. The contrast between the cool green scales and the fiery skin keeps the model balanced without overwhelming the flame gradients.

For the Academy Expeditioner, the focus shifted to the swirling teal energy effects. I painted her cloak in a warm red to contrast against her white robes, matching the teal energy trails to the blue-green tones found throughout the rest of the box set. The leather boots, belts, and gold trim add just enough neutral texture to keep the bright magical swirls as the main focal point of the sculpt.

The Shieldbearer defender ties the group together with a strong turquoise palette. The tower shield and curved blade feature a stippled teal texture with gold trim, detailed with some battle damage and scratches to give the impression of well-used wargear. The white cloak and red fabric under-layers mirror the colors on the Expeditioner, ensuring that even with three completely different sculpts, the trio looks like a cohesive adventuring party when placed side by side.

All three figures were set on warm desert bases finished with teal rims, which provides an immediate pop against the sandy terrain while matching the energy tones of the models. Seeing these new additions line up alongside the rest of my Sand Kingdoms force really brings the whole project into perspective.

Expanding the collection with Scholar's Seal adds a fantastic mix of vibrant magics, warm desert tones, and cool teal accents across the entire array. The shared sand-and-succulent bases and matching teal rims act as the anchor for the faction, pulling together everything from agile dancers and beastfolk to imposing spellcasters into a single, striking army display.
