Tempest arrives

After AMG dropped the ball on shatterpoint last month my local community has seen a resurgence of interest in SW Legion. Several of the old players seem to be coming to the game again and we decided to give the new edition a try.

I already own a significant CIS force, but I've always been interested in having an empire army. Recently one local distributor made a massive sale of 1.0 material and I managed to get my hands on a very solid amount of imperial units for a few bucks.

One of the most discounted units were the AT-STs so I thought it would be nice to have my force themed around Endor.

That said, basing has always been my weak point, so for this army I decided that as I was going to paint very simple colors, I wanted to step up my basing game.

I tried several materials, mostly dried plants and plastic decorations, together with small branches and leaves coming from spices and tea. I wanted to go heavy with the vegetation but I had to add some extra painting to the plants to remove the "plastic" feel they had.

The color scheme was easy as I got a nice recipe from a youtuber that I could replicate easily at home, mixing speed paint medium with Dark Tone wash from AK. The result was pretty nice for the stormtrooper armor and I only had to add some lights to get it done.

I did the scouts first, and the results were pretty sattisfying, ended up adding a lot more vegetation that I anticipated but when they are together they really sell the idea that they are moving around a dense forest.

For the bikes I decided to keep it simple, with no edge highlighting, going for a more muted military look. It kinda reminds plastic toy soldiers but with the dense undergrowth of the forest feeling more realistic, it helps everything look more cohesive.
