Rise of the Independent Systems

I've been really hyped about Star Wars Legion lately. A friend of mine got me hooked with some demos and in the span of a month or two I was already working my way through tournaments with my CIS army!

Droids are ton of fun and can be batch painted by the hundreds in an evening with a spray can and some washes. I painted some details on their arms to help tell the squads appart on the battlefield and to differentiate special troopers like heavy weapons, snipers and the like.

In my school we got a 3D printer and this allowed me to customize some of my army options. The specialists box has been out of stock for a long time so I had to get me some printed replacements to those troopers. My repair droid is a pit droid from episode 1. It's simple and people recognize it easily so my opponents never have a problem identifying his purpose on the battlefield.

The AAT was a big project for me. I only paint with brushes so this big models are very daunting to me. Luckily the tank uses mostly the same colors as the droids so a good spray can, washes and drybrushing did a lot of the job.

For the moment the tank is piloted by a pilot droid, however Lok Durd is already 3D printed and primed and ready to take command.

Spider droids! They were really easy to paint too. I got one original to get me the cards and all the tokens, while the other two were 3D printed. While the Ion cannon version seems to be the most popular, I'm having tons of fun playing with the flamethrower.

The 3D printer also allowed for some nice effects like this Droideka shields that allow me to tell the leader from the unit appart from the rest of the squad.

My most recently painted miniatures were the recently released Magnaguard IG-100 and the leaders of the CIS. I was not too interested in the magnaguard but after painting it and playing it, they have become one of my favourite units.

Grievous and Dooku were really fun to paint. Grievous was even slightly converted to allow him to have his arms open while maintaining the cape.

Sir Christopher Lee in all his evil glory.

The jumpy Darth Maul. Not particularly interesting to paint as he was all black. Still I think my brushstrokes were a bit too big in this particular model. I should come back to it in the future for a more subtle look.

And last Kraken. After playing both Kalani and Kraken I found Kraken's hyperagressive style more suited to my playstyle so decided to commit on painting the Super Tactical Droid in his color scheme.

Still tons of things left to show. It's been a very busy month despite my painting log saying otherwise. I can now field a fully painted army. I know the quality is not the same of my infinity standard but it makes me very happy to play such a big force fully painted.
