Experiments in 3D basing

Lately most of my projects related to the Combined Army where put on a halt due to basing issues. When I began my Onyx force I had just taken a small sculpting class and I was all hyped up to sculpt my own bases for my miniatures. While this was fine for some few models, as the army expanded this turned out to be a horrible solution as sculpting ended up being the chokepoint for my progression on the miniatures. It didn't take long for me to end up buying resin bases. While this was a faster solution it came at an increased price I wasn't sure I…

Space Invaders

My tunguska project keeps going on with my bounty hunter turned into Zondnautica. Got the ITS exclusive bounty hunter for a bargain some months ago and planned to use her as a brawler but the need for a zondnautica miniature that I could mount and dismount quickly put her on the nomad queue as I bought the mounted version of her.  The biker was magnetized so I could remove her when she dismounts from the zondbike. I also finished a morlock that has been lying around halfpainted for a while and at last had the willpower to get mys…

Reporting live from the front

One of the best things about having a miniature painting log is that taking photos of the minis let's you see the mistakes that your naked eye couldn't see. And today was a great example of that as most of the minis had to go back to the table for final retouching. My new home also has some particular light sources that make it pretty difficult to take photo shots without the colors being messed up by the itensity of the light source. I really need to set up a small photo booth of sorts. But whatever, I finished the remainder Sygmaa of my O…

Peace through superior firepower

Well, that was one long long hiatus, but thank god the international moving part is over and I can get back to hobbying. Last two weeks I got tons of new goods thanks to the Wotan campaign promotions in infinity's website and another friend of mine doing a massive infinity sale on his store (sadly I was late to get the Iguana TAG for 20$) but this allowed me to get some nice Corregidor and Bakunin forces for my Nomads, a really nice Morat Agression Force army and a pretty nifty Khapu Qalqui force to add to my vanilla haqs. I have everything assemb…

First Contact

My wife usually says that whenever I want some new toys I flirt with them for over a month before actually buying them. Well, this time she was spot on. I've been eyeing a new Combined Army since I got back to Spain for holidays. The Sygmaa miniatures from the starter looked pretty cool and after playing several games against a Morat Sectorial during the last month I've learned to respect the Rodoks. So in the end I decided to go for the Onyx sectorial, as I wanted to play links but still wanted to be able to field all the races from the Combine…
