Peace and security for the galaxy

Keeping up with my Empire squad for Shatterpoint, this week I've been working on Director Krennic's squad and the Inferno Squad.
I love Krennic's character in the movies and his most recent appearance in Andor, and the model for shatterpoint really captures the look of Ben Mendelson on the role. The miniature is simple yet imposing and menacing. I love the fact that the pin-up for the card has a blaster in his hand, but the sculptors decided it was not necessary for him to be armed to transmit his aura of power.

This set of miniatures was an exercise in painting black, as both the Death troopers and the Inferno squad have full black armor. I had to nail the recipe for it to have some depth but still not look like it wasn't black.
I started with a coat of american blue grey on the elevated areas of the armor, and then just highlited the edges and some of the cylinders in the armor with wolf grey. I guess the key point is to not overdo neither the grey nor the highlights.

As a fun detail, on some of the bases you will see some mouse droids from the original movies. This were part of a present our local game store offered when we purchased the game and it was a nice and fun addition I couldn't add until now as I wasn't sure those droids existed in the era of the Republic, but now on the Empire bases I can add them and they fit right in.

For the Shore troopers I went for the rugged look, having their armor be more dusty and using ground textures on the base to reflect them being a more "boots on the ground" kind of troop that probably doesn't get the same amount of maintenance as other elite troopers.

To close up we have the Inferno Squad. These are the guys that made me interested on playing the empire, as they left a great image on me after playing Battlefront 2. The idea that you could have interesting protagonists showing the POV of the Empire was an interesting change of pace.
Being all black though, they didn't offer much difference in the painting to the Death Troopers. As a detail, I had all the named characters carry their helmets as I did in the past with Rex.
