The terror that was prophesized

When I painted my Kurgan warband for Sphere Wars, one model was left remaining. The massive Leviathan miniature. This resin miniature is twice the size of bigger models and it totally dwarfs human sized miniatures.

For miniatures this big I tend to use Army Painter Speedpaints. It allows for great coverage and variations in color and tone with smooth transitions.

The model includes several areas that were supposed to look decayed. I'm not really a fan of the zombie aesthetic, so instead I opted to make those areas look like hair patches, which also helps unify the color scheme with the other Scions of Kurgan.

One of my particular favorite parts of the miniature are the stones on the base and hand. I used 3 different gray and green patches to give a more organic look and completed with snow terrain effects on the recesses, giving that accumulated snow effect.

As well as the Scions, the tentacles transitioned between the blue into the bloody red of the harpoons in the end, with several hair patches.

This is how the Leviathan looks with the rest of the warband. In the end, despite being painted several weeks ago, they look pretty cohesive together.
