VII Complutum Belli Sattellite roundup

This will be the first time on the blog I go out of general painting log and do some battle reporting. In this case I will write some of the matches I had at the awesome Complutum Belli infinity sattelite event that happened in Alcala (Madrid-Spain) last week, where I took two Bakunin lists to face some of the best spanish players around and try not to be humiliated in the process.

My first list. Riot core, Custodier Haris, a clockmacker and a TRbot. Fun times.

Game 1 (against Mayoral's - Haqqislam) Supremacy

Even though in this mission is usually better to go second, as soon as I knew the enemy was playing generic Haqq I chose initiative. I was not disappointed, with an Impersonator marker next to my custodier haris and a camo nearly in my face I had several threats I needed to neutralize fast before actually focusing on objectives. I managed to kill the aroing Djanbazan with my reaction zond firing throu white noise and then started with the discovering rolls. The camo turned out to be a panzerfaust daylami and the impersonator was a standard Fiday. That I managed to neutralize just before rushing forward at mach speed and shooting Tarik in the back with my last order.

I lost the first quadrant scoring but at least I had cleared the most dangerous pieces.

From then on the next two turns summed up in Hakim heals Tarik, Tarik tries to fire against reasonable odds (either my core Riots or my ODD custodiers) gets hit in the face. Rinse and repeat. I got Tarik unconscious a total of 4 times through the game. Luckily for me in the last one he had jumped into a high building where the Hakim couldn't reach him.

In the end I managed to win quadrants in the last scoring round. So we tied for control points, but my Custodier had gotten 2 of the antenas netting me a 6-4 victory.

Mayoral's Haqqs

My deployment, full of Fiday and camo shennanigans.

Game 2 (against Omadon's - Steel Falanx) Firefight
In this game I got totally murdered by Steel Falanx. I was told the player was a Corvus Belli betatester and it was a tough nut to crack, and indeed I took a hell of a beating.

The enemy was running 2 enomotarchos, one with Fenix and Macaon and a second one with Hector. In the first enemy turn Fenix managed to smoke his way to my flank killing 2 of my Riots and my Clockmaker, leaving me at order disadvantage. I managed to hit back with an assisted fire Reaction that managed to score some crits killing Fenix and Macaon, while my custodiers tried to spotlight the enemy HVT and failed miserably.

Then on second turn all went south. An Ekdromoi deployed in a roof next to my custodier haris (I didn't know you could deploy in roofs so I wasn't looking there) and all my custodiers failed their facing rolls.

From there on carnage ensued. The ekdromos made mince meat of my fireteam one at a time and when finished looked down the building and shot my surviving riots in the back. By my second turn I only had a shotgun Riot and the reaktion and was in Retreat so my opponent won by a solid 10-0.

Game 3 (against Sefeib's - Pan0)  Supplies
This was a disputed game. I took initiative and run my pupniks from a side after clearing the enemy nisse hacker with white noise + moira sniper combo.
However this game my opponent managed to save every freaking save throw. His observer remotes got to save up to 6 shots from my attack pieces!!!

The enemy was running a Cutter that was immobilised by my custodier on second turn and later repaired by an engineer.

By the beggining of my 3rd turn the rival had a box and I had none but my chimera had just killed the carrier. I didn't know getting a box once it had been recovered didn`t need a roll so I spent 4 orders trying to get the darn box with my chimera.

In the end we tied 5-5 but I could have easily gotten a second box If I hadn't wasted those orders I didn't have to roll. Summing up. Read the rules guys!!

This was one of the parts of my deployment zone that I found particularly awesome.

Game 4 (against jmarrcos's - Pan0) Highly Classified
This was a stomp. My opponent's list had no really useful specialists to get the classifieds as he was running a Swiss and a Cutter. He won initiative but decided to take deployment as there was a sniper nest in one of the sides of the board. It turned to be a horrible decision to give me first turn.

The only aro piece was a nisse sniper in the nest, that got quickly dispatched by a white noise plus Total Reaktion salvo. From there, the total reaction with assisted fire made short work of all the enemy pieces but one. My opponentwas afraid to make appear his Tag or swiss so he began his first turn with just 1 order (and 2 hidden deployment) and in loss of lieutenant.

My second and third turns consisted on my Custodier haris running around the field taking objectives for a solid 9-0 victory.

We played at this table. Hellois not included.

Game 5 (against cayren's - Tohaa) Acquisition
You know those games that you end up losing because probability just messes with you? Well, this was one of those. I decided to take initiative to get an alpha strike, but then I wasted my first 4 orders in this game trying to set a white noise area, rolling 18s and 20s... so all my first turn was wasted without getting any tactical advantadge.

My opponent seized my weakness and run through my flank with an Igao to try and hit my Grrls in the back. I lost a girl and my reaction remote. On my second turn I tried to heal both the grrl and remote and reforming the link, again failing miserably my rolls, this lead me to spend all my command tokens wich turned to be my last horrible decision.

On his second turn my opponent killed my custodier lieutenant with a killer hacker thus putting me into LoL for the third turn. Without tokens to change irregulars into regulars there was no way for me to score objectives so I pretty much became a sitting duck. It was a total stomp of a 10-0 in favor of my opponent.

Final Impressions
It was one hell of a tournament. Well disputed until the last round, very nicely organized and with lots of gifts and prizes for the participants. It also had several painting competitions as well as scenics, ilustration and writing contests to spruce up the weekend. The place they took us for dinner was top notch as was the followup beer gathering. I will definetely try to go again next year.

Regarding performance, I was doing pretty well until last round, where I dropped to position 29 of 52 but my overall ELO rank went slightly up so I guess It wasn't that bad. I really liked how the Grrls performed and the Uberfallkomando was pretty decisive on my second list too.
